Sue brings a science and sustainability lens to her work as an urban designer. A passionate advocate of the compact city, which she proposes will sustain our lives via reduced emissions and enliven our neighbourhoods through increased opportunities for connection, cultural exchange and commerce. Sue holds a Master of Urban Design, Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Science from Auckland University and has over 20 years’ experience in the management of urban design teams, processes and outcomes within local and national government roles. She is currently the Director of Urban Design at Kāinga Ora where she leads a team involved in urban design strategy and delivery for Kāinga Ora nationally. The team engage in all aspects of development to secure the best possible design outcomes for Kāinga Ora projects and, most importantly, for the people that live there.
